Nous vous invitons à venir nombreux au prochain séminaire de MIVEGEC le jeudi 18 avril 2019 à 11h00 dans l'amphithéâtre des plantes du centre IRD de Montpellier.

David ROIZ, chargé de recherche à MIVEGEC dans l'équipe Evolution des Systèmes Vectoriels, nous fera une présentation intitulée ;

Evidence-based Integrated Aedes management for the control of Aedes-borne diseases

Résumé de la présentation :

Diseases caused by Aedes-borne viruses, such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever, are emerging and re-emerging globally causing a large health impact and an underestimated economic burden due to medical, management and indirect economic costs. The causes are multifactorial and include global trade, international travel, urbanisation, water storage practices, lack of resources of intervention and an inadequate evidence base for the public health impact of Aedes control tools. With the support of the Worldwide Insecticide resistance Network (WIN), we described a framework for implementing Integrated Aedes Management (IAM) to improve control of these diseases. IAM consists of a portfolio of operational actions and priorities for the control of Aedes-borne viruses that are tailored to different epidemiological and entomological risk scenarios and based on available evidence. The framework has four activity pillars: integrated vector and disease surveillance, vector control, community mobilisation, and intra- and inter-sectoral collaboration together with supporting activities. We provided a comprehensive framework to devise and deliver sustainable, effective, integrated, community-based, locally-adapted vector control strategies in order to reduce the burden of Aedes-transmitted arboviruses. We will discuss the current evidences of Aedes control and the further actions that might be done towards the reduction of the burden of dengue, chikungunya, Zika and yellow fever worldwide.
